Genital herpes cannot be cured and hence there is no recovery time for this disease. If you are infected with HSV, then you will have virus and disease for life. Only the severity and duration of the outbreak can be reduced.
Symptoms of genital herpes in women
Common symptoms of herpes in a child born to a pregnant mother who has symptoms of herpes may include ulcers on the face, body, and genitals. In some cases, severe symptoms of this infection are also seen such as
- Blindness
- brain damage
- The death
It is very important that such women tell their doctor about herpes infection, so that your child can be protected from virus infection during delivery.
Other Symptoms of genital herpes
Unfortunately, most women do not show signs of genital herpes but still have some symptoms. Symptoms may vary from woman to woman.
In most cases, symptoms start appearing within two to 10 days when first infected with genital herpes.
Symptoms include itching or burning sensation in the genital or anal area, pain in the feet, buttocks, or genital area, fluid secretion from the vagina, feeling of pressure in the abdomen.
Treatment of genital herpes
There is no cure for genital herpes. But using anti-viral drugs helps to reduce the severity and frequency of genital herpes.
